About Dr. LI Kwan Hung Leo

Kwan-Hung Leo Li received his Ph. D from Durham University in the Northeast England. His thesis discusses the different levels of meaning in the Exodus Narrative, by using the dialogic principle of M. M. Bakhtin to explore how we can dialogue with these levels of meaning through the voices in/of the text. His researches mainly focus on the literary and meta-critical interpretation of the Hebrew Bible, and the theological and hermeneutical issues around the Hebrew Bible as Christian Scripture. He is also deeply interested in the research on the Pentateuch, Aramaic Bible (the Targum), and the narrative genre and the synoptic problems in the Hebrew bible.

He teaches mainly on these subjects: Biblical Hebrew, Introduction to the Hebrew Scriptures and the understanding of the Hebrew Bible in different contexts. His recent publication: “The Lord as a Speaking Person: Exploring a Bakhtinian Approach to the Study of the Biblical Narrative” CGST Jounral, no. 55 (July 2013, in Chinese).
