Arab Studies
Students are required to complete a minimum of 18 units of courses, with at least 6 units at 3000 or above level as follows:
- Required Courses: (12 units)
- CURE 2226 Introduction to Islam
- CURE 2228 History of the Arab World
- Language Requirement:
i. CURE 2180 Arabic for Beginners I OR ARAB 1000 ARABIC I,
AND CURE 2181 Arabic for Beginners II; OR
ii. ARAB 2050 ARABIC I & II
- Elective Courses: 2 courses from the followings: (6 units)
- CURE 3114 Islamic Scriptures: The Qur’an and Traditions of Muhammad
- CURE 3129 Islam: Religious Tradition and Modern Politics
- CURE 3376 Religious Fundamentalism and Asian Cultures
- CURE 3378 Fieldwork in Islamic Culture and Religion
- CURE 4157 Special Topics in Religious Traditions
- CURE 4158 Special Topics in Religion, Culture and Society
Note: This Minor Programme is not applicable to students who major in Cultural Studies, Religious Studies, and Theology.
